Malin and Goetz Deodorant Review

In the world of deodorants and beauty products, there is a huge misconception that only women should smell really good or go for personal care products.

Brands have now discovered that men are catching up and that a lot of them are secretly using hygiene products marketed for women, and that includes deodorants and antiperspirants.

Malin and Goetz deodorant has been in the market for more than a decade and is definitely the favorite on many. The question is, what makes this brand stand out? Why would you want to purchase one?

In this review, I will be sharing a little bit about Malin and Goetz and the history of the brand, information on natural deodorant, and what I like and don’t like about this product.

Before we go to the brand’s history, here is a short video of the founders talking about their best-selling product:

What is Malin and Goetz?

What is Malin and Goetz deodorant and why do people say that it’s “the one” among all the brands they’ve tried? I bet you’re curious now (and so was I before, believe me), so just relax and read more.

Malin and Goetz, as I mentioned above, has been a favorite for more than a decade now, with their eucalyptus deodorant being their best-seller. Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz used their surnames as the name for their personal care brand which has now grown into a bigger (and better) company.

Matthew Malin moved to New York in 1991 to attend the executive training at Saks Fifth Avenue. He was then hired by Barney’s, which was privately-owned back then, to be a cosmetic buyer.

His job was mainly looking for the best brands to launch at Barney’s. he proved to be really excellent in his job that later on he went on to oversee global sales for the family-owned brand, Kiehl’s.

Kiehl’s was later bought by L’Oreal in 2000 and Matthew decided to move forward and managed Prada’s beauty division and also developed their line of perfumes. let’s just say that when it comes to developing a brand, Matthew Malin is one of the best in his field.

What made him start Malin and Goetz though, is not his passion for developing just any brand. This was a very personal choice because while working for all those cosmetic brands, he suffered from so many skin conditions.

Matthew had eczema, seborrhea, and rosacea which really affected his self-confidence, aside from affecting his daily life because eczema can be really painful and itchy. That’s why his brand really makes sure that they don’t have any unnecessary ingredients nor harmful chemicals.

I can just imagine how hard it was for him as I have some skin problems too and as a child, it was hard for me to find a brand that didn’t make any allergies flare-up. Yes, this includes brands that market their soaps and shampoos for babies.

Andrew Goetz, the co-found and co-owner of the brand was the marketing director in the United States for a Swiss-owned company, Vitra. He helped the company grow by pushing the image of the company in the right direction.

Same with his previous work, Andrew is the mind behind the brand, as you can see the simple minimalist (yet very chic) design that everybody loves. All the people behind the Malin and Goetz stores are people he worked with before and personally chose to help him build his brand.

The brand’s philosophy revolves around how they are as people, thus naming it after themselves. They also make sure to make natural products appealing to the modern world, thus the design and simple packaging.

Malin and Goetz also manufacture their products locally, doing their best to reduce their carbon footprint while providing us with the best products our money can buy.

What is all-natural deodorant and why do people love it?

You may be a bit confused with the recent craze on all-natural deodorants. You may be like “but I’ve been using deodorant my entire life”. I myself was like this at first until I read and researched and discovered that I have been using products that contain pretty strong chemicals in them. Plus the fact that I haven’t been using just deodorant.

Woah, what?! Yes, I have to break it to you, you most likely used a deodorant antiperspirant growing up, just like me. So what’s the deal with natural deodorants?

Let me explain — your old antiperspirant deodorant has a lot of chemicals, one of them being a form of aluminum chloride, which is used to temporarily block your pores.

Although not many studies are out to prove that it is harmful. Lots of people choose to avoid this ingredient, especially if you’re not someone who has hyperhidrosis, an excessive sweating condition.

I’d understand and recommend antiperspirant only to those who really, really need them. Otherwise, I suggest going all-natural because sweating is a totally normal and natural bodily function.

Natural deodorants do not affect sweating at all. Its main target is the odor as many people complain about this when they sweat. Aluminum-free deodorants usually have natural ingredients that help lessen the moisture and neutralize the bad odor.

The best feature of going all-natural is that I don’t have to worry too much about yellow stains on my clothes. These stains are caused by the reaction of sweat with the aluminum chloride and since natural deodorants have no aluminum, I know my clothes are safe.

I also love all-natural deodorants because less is more. I don’t have to use a whole lot of product just to smell good. Surprisingly this has been the comment of everyone on natural deodorants. I used to put so much deodorant antiperspirant to keep my pits from smelling bad. Now I don’t have to do that.

Before we go on to what I like and don’t like about deodorants, I’d like to remind you that there is always an adjustment period after you change products. If you’re lucky, you may continue smelling good but for some, they really stink at first, and it’s normal.

I suggest that you prepare for an underarm detox when you decide to go all-natural. Make sure you have some calcium bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar, water, and lots of patience before you start. Why patience? This is because you’ll have to brave it through 4 weeks to fully adjust to your new product.

After the detox, you’ll notice that you don’t have to reapply as much even after an activity that made you sweat, you’ll also notice that you generally smell good. For some people who end up not smelling good, I guess you’ll have to find the product that reacts well with your sweat. It’s all about making your body (and skin) happy.

What I like about Malin and Goetz

1. It glides

The best feature of this deodorant and everyone will say that it may be a deodorant stick, but it applies so smoothly on the skin — it glides. A lot of other brands have had issues with this because some deodorants have very hard and sometimes rough sticks that can cause irritation on the skin.

Malin and Goetz made sure that roughness was never (and will never be) a problem for their deodorant. Like all their other products, they make sure to only launch the best version which is formulated for sensitive skin.

2. All-day protection

Using Malin and Goetz will guarantee all-day protection from smelling terrible. Aside from smelling cool because of their signature citronella/eucalyptus blend, you will definitely feel confident because smelling good can always boost someone’s confidence wherever you may be (like at the gym or even at work).

3. Free from harmful chemicals

As mentioned above, the brand’s identity and history revolve around Matthew Malin’s skin conditions and his history with working with different huge cosmetic brands. Problem is, it often triggered or made his allergies flare-up.

Malin and Goetz made a promise to their consumers to only use the best — while remaining pure and chemical-free. After all, we now know that deodorants can work wonders, even if they don’t have all these chemicals.

What I don’t like about Malin and Goetz

1. Redness and peeling

Some people who have tried Malin and Goetz have complained about redness, itchiness, and peeling. Because this product is baking soda-free, it’s obviously not the culprit. My theory is that a lot of people are unknowingly sensitive to fragrances in the products they use. My best advice is to switch to a fragrance-free natural deodorant.

2. “Medicinal” smell

A lot of people rave about the amazing eucalyptus blend they have for their deodorant. But as the saying goes, you can’t please anyone. Some people have complained that Malin and Goetz smell too “medicinal”.

3. Does not work

Some people who have been using Malin and Goetz have complained that the deodorant does not provide all-day protection and they end up smelling worse after using the product.

I always suggest doing a full underarm detox before giving up all hope on a natural deodorant, because there is always (as I’ve mentioned above) an adjustment period because your skin has to get used to sweating again.

Conclusion

Now that you know about Malin and Goetz and their best-selling deodorant, I’m sure choosing an all-natural deodorant won’t be too hard because there are really good options out in the market.

Ready To Make a Change Now?

OscarHi, I have been sweating excessively for the better part of my life.  I looked for solutions for well over a decade, but I never found anything that lasted.

I had given up hope and accepted to live the rest of my life being embarrassed with ugly sweat stains in my armpits.

However, after a few years of not searching for any solutions anymore, I gave it another shot.  And I found what finally gave me the freedom I had longed for so many years.

Now, I don’t worry about sweat stains in my armpit anymore, nor do I have to change up to 4 times daily.

My Recommendations

Recommendation #1

SweatblockA clinical strength antiperspirant is one of the first things I recommend to people that sweat excessively in their armpits because you can stop your sweating completely.

Sweatblock is a product I have used successfully for years now and it has proven effective every single time I apply it correctly.  The best I have gotten out of it are 7 days, but some people report to have been sweat-free for 10 days.

This product has saved me from many embarrassing situations!  Instead of having to hide the stains in my armpits minutes after taking a shower, I can now lift my arms as much as I want and no sweat will show.  Not one drop of sweat for many days!

To know for how many days it will work on you, you have to try it out yourself, as it varies anywhere between 4-10 days.

Recommendation #2

thompson teeAnother thing that I always use after finding out about such a great product is a sweat proof undershirt.  I wore undershirts every single day before I found out about the Thompson Tee but they never helped.

Since I sweat so much in my armpits, I was immediately sweating through.

The Thompson Tee has a patended think sweat pad sewn nicely into the armpit.  I do not sweat through nor do I have had leaks in the past few years of wearing these.  They are so comfortable and leave me completely dry on the outside.  When I forget to put on Sweatblock, I have the Thompson Tee as a backup as I always wear one.

Could not recommend it more to anyone sweating excessively.  With a large variety of undershirts for both, men and women, you will find your perfect life-saver.

About Oscar

I am the founder and director of Stop-Sweating-Now.com and have been researching and writing about hyperhidrosis for many yearOscars.

It all started when I was around 14 years of age, when I suddenly found out that I was sweating more in my armpits than I should.  At first I thought it was something that would go away soon, but I was wrong.

After finding a solution to my problem, I decided it was important to shout out my message to those that are suffering from what I had lived with so many years.

My goal is to help people find their freedom from sweating by sharing my expertise because hyperhidrosis is an underdiagnosed condition.  People don’t know that it is a medical term and can be treated effectively.

That is why I am here: Sharing with you what I know, what works and what does not work.
