Did you ever feel so embarrassed before a handshake due to your sweaty palms? This is a familiar scenario to people who suffer from focal hyperhidrosis.
What if I told you that there is an easy and affordable solution to finally stop your palms from sweating?
Carpe antiperspirant hand lotion was made just for that purpose. Imagine going to events without being encumbered by the thought of wiping your hands before a handshake or even just the daily trouble of working with sweaty palms .
In this review, you will learn more about the Carpe hand lotion, how it can help you, why I like or don’t like about it, and other products you can use to combat hyperhidrosis.
What is Focal Hyperhidrosis
I will briefly explain Focal Hyperhidrosis and why it happens. Also known as primary hyperhidrosis, this condition affects a lot of individuals without even knowing it. It is so interesting that many people find out they have it after reading blogs or reviews such as this one.
Some people may tell you that you’re just nervous or anxious. In some countries in Asia like the Philippines, they might think that you got “pasma” (read as pah-smah) which happens if you touch warm things then touch cooler things, or get your hands wet after working out or even cooking.
Focal hyperhidrosis is much more than that. Did you know that this condition affects over 3% of the American population? This condition makes one sweat excessively on their armpits, palms, feet, groin, and forehead.
Although it only affects a small percentage of the population, I honestly think that the statistics are so low because people rarely go to the doctor because of a sweating problem. More often than not, people who suffer from excessive sweating get diagnosed later on in life.
Some people will often suggest natural remedies that often help — but these herbal cures just provide temporary relief. What most people are looking for are long-term solutions that can significantly reduce sweat, or stop it completely.
This is where products like Carpe antiperspirant hand lotion comes in. Read more to find out if this is the product you have been looking for.
Treatments Given for People Who Excessively Sweat
There are so many treatments given to people who have hyperhidrosis, like oral medication or even Botox. Read more to discover some treatments given by doctors to people suffering from excessive palm sweating.
1) Ice Bath or Cold Compress
It may seem funny but I met someone who went to the doctor and her doctor told her to have a cold compress or even an ice pack for whenever her palms get too sweaty.
What I didn’t like about this remedy is that it is highly inconvenient for someone to have ice all the time. Imagine meeting an important client, or going to a job interview while lugging around an ice pack? Not the most practical solution but I still decided to share this.
These types of medications are not only given to people who suffer from excessively sweating. It is also given to people who have irritable bowel syndrome.
These anticholinergics block a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. It is responsible for many involuntary muscle movements and even sweating produced from the eccrine glands which are the glands usually affected in a person who has hyperhidrosis.
Possible side-effects are so bad that you’d have to think more than ten times before even taking these things. Some of the side-effects are hallucinations, constipation, delirium, and many more.
3) Topical Creams or Sprays
Topical creams or sprays are the safest to give for excessive sweat because you don’t have to drink it (which reduces any damage it can cause to your organs) and it has the least side effects. This is because our skin reacts to things it doesn’t like almost immediately.
The Carpe antiperspirant hand lotion is a perfect example of this type of remedy that doctors suggest. These products do not necessarily have to be prescribed and are easily ordered online or over-the-counter at any drugstore.
Carpe: A Brief History
Compared to other sweat-stopping brands like Odaban and SweatBlock, Carpe was just recently launched in 2015. It was started by two roommates who discovered that they both suffered from hyperhidrosis.
They ended up thinking about a solution to their problem and got funding from a grant to start their sweat stopping dream — Carpe. Now, this brand is one of the most popular antiperspirant products in the market.
What makes them different is that they are easily available, very mild, and most importantly, cheap. A small bottle can last you longer because they formulated the product so you won’t have to use much.
In 2018 they came up with their line of antiperspirant lotions which we are reviewing today. I can say that Carpe has grown so much in just a short span of time.
Before you read about what I like and don’t like about Carpe antiperspirant hand lotion, here is a video of Kellie and her review on this product:
Why Do I Like Carpe Antiperspirant Hand Lotion?
I love Carpe for many reasons and I’d love to share why a lot of people would benefit from using it. I also want to add that there is also a Carpe antiperspirant foot lotion that can help a lot of people when dealing with sweaty feet.
Nothing makes me happier than finding products that are worth every cent you spend. Aside from being affordable, you use very little of it per application. You end up using this product longer than the other similar cream in the market.
2) Specifically Made for People with Hyperhidrosis
Carpe founders Kasper Kubica and David Spratte both came up with these awesome products because they themselves suffered from hyperhidrosis. I would definitely trust a brand that is dedicated to helping people who suffer from hyperhidrosis.
It only means that before they release a product, they made sure it works. After all, they came up with the idea after they needed similar products that weren’t available in stores at that time or weren’t as effective for their sweating problem.
Now there are many different brands like Odaban and others that have had to improve their sweat-stopping formulas after Carpe was released.
3) It Doesn’t Burn
There are now other brands of antiperspirant hand lotions in stores. You have more than enough choices when it comes to stopping excessive palm sweating. The question is if those hand creams are as mild as this Carpe hand lotion.
Many reviews are just gushing over how effective and mild this product is. Some of them had used other hand lotions similar to Carpe but have complained because they felt a tingling or a burning sensation on their palms.
4) People Can’t Get Enough Of It
Many people complain that the bottle is too small. You might think that this is a bad thing but I see this as an effective product because people just can’t have enough of it. Try it for yourself and experience a day without sweaty palms.

What I Don’t Like About Carpe Antiperspirant Hand Lotion
1) It Doesn’t Work
This doesn’t mean that it is totally not effective at all but some reviews have said that when the sweating gets so bad, the lotion loses its sweat-proofing and that a bit of sweat still gets produced.
I think this is normal for most topical antiperspirants as some people with hyperhidrosis just sweat more than usual, especially during nervous situations.
2) It Can Get Sticky
In some situations, when the sweat is so bad, instead of totally drying up, it makes your palms very sticky. So I usually tell people to apply this at night, making sure the palms are dry as compared to applying it during the day where the sweat is so bad.
3) It Is Not Completely Odorless
Carpe is supposed to be scent-free but some people say that it has a smell. Not entirely unpleasant, but it is there. It may be caused when the product reacts to sweat so this may happen to some as not all Carpe users have made this observation after using the lotion.
4) It Doesn’t Absorb Sweat As Fast As It Claims
Most reviews always say that it absorbs sweat so fast but in some cases, due to the amount of sweat on their palms, the lotions take time to absorb it. This may be an inconvenience for some especially if they apply this during the day and would have to weirdly air dry their hands in front of people.
How To Use Carpe Lotion
I will make a short how-to section as this lotion is so easy to use as compared to other brands that have to have a very detailed way of applying.
1) Wash Your Hands
Always wash your hands before applying this lotion to make sure that the product doesn’t mix with dirt and other stuff that may be on your hands.
2) Apply a Pea-Sized Amount
You only need a little Carpe lotion and that already goes a long way. This small bottle will last you longer than most antiperspirant creams because you use so little.
3) Rub Your Palms For 15 Seconds
This allows the lotion to fully cover your palms and fingers. This step also allows the lotion to absorb the excess sweat if ever your hands are already sweaty prior to application.
4) Enjoy a Sweat Free Day
Now you can finally have a sweat-free day where you can shake someone’s hand without having to wipe them.
5) Apply Twice a Day
For best results apply twice a day. Preferably before sleeping and in the day before heading out.
Reminder: Make sure to follow all the steps I mentioned above because in my experience, skipping a step may affect the effectivity of any product.
We always want to look and feel our best when heading out to meet friends or family. Sweaty palms may get in the way, but products like Carpe are always there to save us from potentially embarrassing situations.
Always remember that there are many available solutions to any problem and that hyperhidrosis can be fought with a wide array of sweat-stopping clothing and topical products.
